Tribal Shindigging: The act of rolling up your sleeves, picking up a shovel, and digging for the gold alongside your sweet tribal sisters.
Another intro I am so proud to make personified in the definition above.
This lady is gentle, but don't be fooled! She stands firm, challenges, sharpens and digs. Not the type to sit by and watch you do the hard inner work on your own. Tara Serene is a wade through the muddy waters with you kind of friend. I have been so honoured to have her by my side these last few years. An ordained friendship for sure.
Enough gushing...now is the time to grab a hot mug of what ever you fancy (for Tara it would be tea), and take a ride on the poetic rhythm of her beautiful soul.
Hi, I am Tara Serene. My name speaks of the balance of who I am and I write from deep within the wells of that. I am both a strong tower, or rocky hill, as well as gentle spirited; as my first and middle names define. From this I write; sometimes with fervency and sometimes through meandering metaphors.
I grew up in the Okanagan Valley, in British Columbia, Canada, and then have lived both in a small town, and a Northern city. Most of my stories come from pieces of restoration within myself. We are all digging through life and sifting through our truths. I love people, yet I am introverted in energy- always feeling a contradiction. Oh, and there is the sarcastic humor.
I have been writing as long as I remember. I write for who I am, not just as a task to accomplish. I am one who internalizes, and writing out my thoughts can be like talking to a good friend for me. I come from a line of writers; journal writers, letter senders, poetry creators, and story tellers. I have memories of dinners with extended family where letters were read from my aunt in South America, and my great-grandmother would recite poems that she wrote, inspired by her faith. I have always journaled out my life thoughts, plans, and prayers.
I write to process, I write to engage, I write to invoke change. I write from a place of vulnerability and sometimes whimsicality.
I am a mother of four, a wife to one, and I am writing from who I am more now than ever before it seems. But alas, is not that the way a story goes… the telling is in the journey, you don’t start at the ending.
Welcome to my inner thoughts. Enjoy and be ever encouraged forward.
Last week I mentioned that I would be inviting you into my tribe. It's true, I really meant what I said! I am SO beyond excited to introduce our first guest blogger. You may recognize her from her own blog www.sarahonpurpose.com, and if you don't know her voice, I encourage you to hop over there and take a read. I have had the opportunity, over the last year, to really get to know Sarah and she has become a dear friend. This power house momma is full of wisdom, and better yet, she is ever so kind to share what she has discovered in a totally uplifting and non judgemental way!
Here I am taking the big leap and jumping in to the bloggosphere...
I have tried my hand at this a few times before, and sometimes it went really well! But there's something about putting yourself out there that is just a touch scary. I know quite a few bloggers and writers, and as I sit here quivering in my boots, I commend you.
Much love and respect!
Now to lay down my intentions so you know what you can expect from me and this little writing station...
The whole point of Shindig Shop is to celebrate relationships. I mean, to really try and provide tools and inspiration so that we can be drawn ever closer together in love, support and friendship. My goal is to encourage you to search out establish and fight for a tribe, whom you can do life with, draw support from and pour into. I believe with all my heart that we need each other, but for some reason it seems to be difficult for us to find this kind of friendship.
This will be a place where you can get to know me a bit more than you currently do, and hopefully I'll get to know you a bit more too (comment please!). There will be tales of friendship along with tips and tricks on everything from party drinks to playlists. And as my inner circle can vouch, I am somewhat of an expert when it comes to party drinks and playlists!
*not bragging, or anything*
Now for my first attempt in being real with you all, I ain't no english major. OK! You will just have to deal with the occasional grammar and spelling faux pas. It happens a lot.
In the truest sense of community I am so excited to announce that I have a line-up of major boss babes from all across our great land hopping on board this blog schedule to tell their stories.
So cozy up with a big mug of tea and get ready to get to know some really great ladies. I can't wait for you to meet them!
